During my recent visit to New Delhi for Amazon India Fashion Week, with Maybelline, Tamra At Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel Is Where I Was headed For an Easy-Breezy Brunch, on a rather bubbly Sunday, right after the completion of Fashion Week.
Centrally located amidst the famous landscaped gardens in the historic government district, Shangri-La’s – Eros Hotel, New Delhi, is a luxurious oasis nestled within the heart of this bustling metropolis. An excellent range of facilities complemented by the legendary Shangri-La hospitality ensure that guests enjoy a lavish and comfortable stay.
Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel is one of our favourite spots for Sunday brunches in Delhi. It’s always a little laid back with a whole lot of class. And that’s what anyone wants on a day when they don’t mind splurging while being spoilt for choice, for they have so many options, it’s mind boggling!
In a nutshell, Tamra is Shangri-La’s multicuisine restaurant that serves Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Indian, and Continental food. The restaurant sees the turnout of a lot of diplomats since the embassy area isn’t too far away.
Sit at a spot near the windows for a view of the lush green lawns. This restaurant doesn’t have an outdoor seating but it gets a lot of natural light from the windows. The music is mellow too, so it just puts you right at ease.
You could get their Sparkling Wine brunch, for unlimited sparkling wine, or the one with unlimited cocktails. The bartenders will whip up anything of your favourite cocktail for happy sipping with whatever you choose to get from the buffet. You can, of course get soft beverages if you don’t want alcohol so early in the day.
We got a little bit of everything. The Sushi had both vegetarian and non vegetarian varieties and they were both delicious. We especially liked the one with the crab meat in it.
One of the chefs was sweet enough to make a sweet potato (shakarkandi) chaat for us, which was stuffed inside the Raj Kachori’s shell. It was delicious, to say the least, and we almost wanted to ask for another plate of those. They’ve got a whole selection with salads in jars as well as in bowls for you to customise your own. The smoked chicken one and the seafood one were just yummy. You can’t really have brunch without getting salad, no?
We picked a bowl of glass noodles soup with Bok Choi and mushrooms from the Asian section. The dumplings here are so good, you’re going to have to keep yourself from ODing on them if you want to save room for anything else. We got done Ghee Roast (chicken) and some Appam and Stew from the Indian section. They’re both so good, you could just come here especially to have these.
They also have a burger station where you can build your own burger with the ingredients there. We suggest you skip some of the previously mentioned items if you plan to get this because you’ll be way too full to get anything else.
The dessert section has a large variety of cakes, pastries, Indian desserts, and ice creams. We got the Mixed Berry Cheesecake from here, and we took our own sweet time just savouring every last bit of this. You can tell that the cheesecake is fresh because it’s so light and creamy. The berry compote is just perfection.
The only thing that was slightly troublesome was that the service isn’t as quick as we’d thought it’d be. But since it is a popular spot for brunch, the restaurant was packed, and we do understand the delay.
All in all, Tamra is where you want to head to on a Sunday when you’re feeling particularly fancy enough to leave the house and get spoilt for choice with the one too many options that they have on display. Cold cut platters, cheese platters, Dallas’s, soups, chaat, sushi, noodles, Indian preparations, a burger station–they have it all!
For the ones who’re keen, and are willing to shed a little to get a wholesome luxurious experience, Pay INR 2,300++ for brunch with unlimited soft beverages, INR 3,000++ for brunch with unlimited cocktails and beer, and INR 3,950 for brunch with unlimited sparkling wine. For children aged 4 and under, brunch prices don’t apply. For children aged between 5 – 12, INR 1,500++.
